Medicul anestezist este cel care va efectua anestezia și cel în măsură să spună care este cel mai potrivit tip de anestezie pentru pacientă, în funcție de istoricul ei medical (e nevoie de un consult preanestezic, care de obicei se face în săptămâna 36-a de sarcină).
